It isn't a VTEC Mini, but it is an old mini with lots of power. My mini would be similar to this one, with a few differences:
- This one has a 1.4 litre original Mini engine which has been modified to make 160 horsepower. Mine would have either a 1.8 or a 2.0 litre Honda engine with over 200 horsepower.
- This one has straight-cut gears, which I hear is difficult to drive. Mine would have a friendly, smooth, Honda transmission.
- This one cost £50,000 (over $100,000), but mine would probably cost less than $30,000.
- This one is green, mine will be black.
- Mine will be just as tiny.
- Mine will probably be just as uncomfortable, and possibly almost as loud.

Hey it's Daniel.
When you get your VTEC mini drive it out to NYC; it would be easy to drive and park around here. That thing looks sweet. I miss driving. I got to drive the ol' WRX in the wintertime While on vacation in park city right after a huge snow storm. So much fun!
Dustin,
Greg and I think that putting a tiny honda engine in your mini is a bit weak- Go for a V8! real power there :) (but a challenge to get in the engine bay...)
Yay, I love getting comments from people who I didn't even know read my blog!
Dan: Oh man, the WRX is so fun, I can only imagine how fun it is in the snow... Coming to NYC in my Mini sounds like a great idea, but realistically I am probably still at least a year or two (or three?) away from actually getting one...
Catherine: V8, eh? Hahaha, that might be overkill. I don't know if it would even fit seeing as how putting the honda engine in already requires lengthening the engine bay by about 4 inches. Also, some of the best parts of the VTEC mini are that it still gets great gas mileage, and yet it is still plenty quick indeed. Maybe I'll try a V8 mini some day when I'm old and have time and money to spare on a project like that.
Dustin,
Now don't be like that. I read an article about a Ford Fiesta that had a V-8 in it.
Besides ain't none of the greatest things EVER got done by somebody saying "I don't think it will work."
I can hear my homie Thomas Edison saying, "That's what you get for thinkin' fool!"
Also, do you think George Bush would say, "I don't think it will work?" Hell no! When he was going into Iraq, I bet he said, "We're just gonna have to extend the engine bay a good three or four feet. That'll git'r'done!"
Seriously Dustin, you need to align your thinking with the greatest dreamers of our time.
Sincerely, the split personalities of
Ghetto Greg and The Ghost of Thomas Edison.
The Sydney Motor Show opens today. On the news just now I saw a piece about this Mini Chase driving course they will have set up. You get to drive a souped up Mini (one in a set of 3, just like in The Italian Job) through a straw bale lined course that snakes its way thru an area of the city. I thought of you instantly. When I did the BMW Ice Driving Track up in Avon, it was loads of fun. This thing, in one of three tire-smoking Mini's just looks rippin'
Haha, sounds fun. Too bad you can't go for me :-)
